Invite Your Dogs to Participate in the Process.

Updated: Aug 7

Here around the house, we are beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. We are in the final stages of major landscaping. It has been a process.

Our girls (Abby and Kenzy, the border collie X’s) have put up with a lot. They have not had free access to the yard, the noises have at times, been awful, and they cannot be in on the action!

The excavating is done (I think). The back-up beep-beep freaked Kenzy out so bad that she would go and hide. When a boulder was accidently dropped on the sidewalk, Abby dove under my desk so fast.

Well, this week, they have spent much more time outside with Dad. He is doing electrical work and can keep his eye on the girls (so he says). They are just happy to lay in the shade and be near him.

Yesterday, a whole new world was presented to Abby. We are installing a water feature. The contractor was doing a test on it yesterday, and the sound of the flowing water excited both of our girls. We watched as they slowly crept up to the rocks and slowly discovered that it was water. They started drinking it and biting at it. But that did not satisfy Abby.

As we watched, she tentatively started climbing up the rocks, checking the water flow at each one. She got to the top, turned around, started down, and stopped at each level to assess the “getting wet” probability.

Abby so loves the water. In fact, we currently have a kiddie pool for her to play in and cool off. We may have to hose her off tonight, because of using her pool, she laid in the tree-planting mud and is filthy up to her belly. She is so proud of herself…what can you do.

Invite your dogs to participate in the process.

Thursday Morning Update: I may or may not regret my above comment.
